Let's face it life can be very unpredictable at times. As leaders, we run into obstacles in our personal and professional lives that make staying afloat difficult. Whether it is the loss of a loved one or financial problems, everyone has to deal with some challenges. However, with so much going on in the world and so many negative news stories, it's sometimes easy to forget that there are plenty of good and positive things to celebrate in your life, in your company, and in the world.

Negative situations are uncomfortable, even painful, at times. But how we approach these situations significantly influences how we lead. It's tough, I know, but that's what being a leader is all about, and that's why leadership is not for the faint at heart. Your leadership is tested in a crisis, and you can immediately deduce what kind of leader you are when you are faced with challenging situations that stretch you to think beyond your comfort zone.

It's all a matter of mindset because you have to inspire your team to believe that everything will be okay, which is why being positive in a negative situation is not naive; it's leadership.
