To Built A Strong Team, You Must Be Aware Of Your Strengths And recruit Your Weaknesses

Writer's picture: Gifford ThomasGifford Thomas

Richard Branson didn’t understand the difference between net and gross for years. When finally, around 18 years ago, an executive took him aside for a lesson and explained the difference between the two terms. Richard Branson wasn’t great with numbers, so he recruited his weakness and was wise enough to give his team the freedom to work without interfering. It’s important to ask for help, no matter the topic. If you’re honest with yourself, you can learn a lot, according to Branson “There’s no shame in admitting the places where you may fall short, and engaging with people who can help.” When his colleague finally set him straight, it taught him a valuable lesson about being aware of your strengths and recruiting your weaknesses.
