Leaders Must Lead Themselves First

It’s hard to lead others when you’re not leading yourself.

Learning to lead yourself well is one of the most important things you’ll ever do as a leader. Leading yourself means that you hold yourself to a higher standard of accountability than others do.

You can’t set low expectations for yourself and high expectations for your people. It simply won’t work because “people do what people see.” If your team sees you living under the bar you’ve set for them, it won’t take long for them to slip under that bar themselves.

Leaders must lead themselves first and set the standards high for themselves first before they can expect anything else from anyone.
