Leaders Set The Example

If you find yourself in an organization that permits toxic leadership, start planning your exit strategy. The reason for this is that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, and you cannot afford to spend time with toxic people.

At some point, you either have to conform with this behavior and accept it or get out. Great leadership is essential to any organizational success, but in many instances, leadership may need to change because any toxic environment can only strive if the leadership allows it. Remember, the leader sets the example for everyone to follow, so if toxicity exists in your company and the leadership is quite comfortable with that culture, guess what? It will spread like wildfire throughout the entire company.

The only potent antidote to a toxic work environment is inspirational, genuine, motivational, and positive leadership because toxic leaders breed poisonous cultures. Toxic cultures develop more toxic leaders unconsciously– and believe me, you don’t want to be one of them.
